The Sustainable Nashville Awards™ highlight local sustainability champions and are presented each year at the Climate Week Cook-Off
Award Categories
Educational Leadership Award
Recognizes a formal or informal teacher, school administrator, or educational program that champions sustainability education in inspiring and innovative ways. Recipient equips learners with knowledge, skills, and experiences to make informed environmental choices and become active stewards of their world.
Celebrates leaders who make environmental literacy a priority, empower young people to take meaningful action, and serve as role models for peers and the broader educational community.
Organizational Practices Award
Celebrates a business, nonprofit, agency that embeds sustainability into its operations, culture, and decision-making. Recipient demonstrates leadership in reducing environmental impact through innovative policies, waste reduction, energy conservation, sustainable procurement, and employee engagement. Honors organizations that balance environmental responsibility with economic viability and community benefit, setting a standard for others to follow.
Equitable Change Award
Celebrates an individual or organization ensuring that equity is at the heart of Nashville’s sustainability movement. Recipient works to make environmental solutions accessible and inclusive, addressing disparities that frontline communities face in areas such as climate resilience, transportation, food access, housing, or health. Honors those who elevate underrepresented voices, build meaningful partnerships, and embed equity into every step of sustainability planning and action. Nominees demonstrate measurable outcomes that advance a vision of a sustainable city where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Sustainable Nashville Awards™ Nominations
Guidelines
The purpose of the Sustainable Nashville Awards™ is to highlight and amplify local sustainability champions for their work to make Nashville a more sustainable city. Awardees show exemplary leadership practices that ignites behavior change within their sphere of influence.
The nomination form is now open. All nominations must be submitted by July 31st at midnight. You will be contacted if your nominee is chosen. Awardees will receive three complimentary tickets (self+2) to the Climate Week Cook-Off.
Past awardees are ineligible for nomination.
