Borrow Instead of Buy
June 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm CDTFree
Have you ever wanted to try a new craft or hobby but found yourself discouraged after realizing you didn’t have the needed tools? Or have you bought the tools for that new hobby only to realize that you don’t actually enjoy knitting, birdwatching, or playing the bongos? Nashville Public Library’s newest program offers an alternative: borrow instead of buy. Launched in early 2023, the Library of Things allows NPL library cardholders to borrow a range of useful household items including activities and games, health and fitness equipment, tools and electronics, and much more to provide further enrichment to the Nashville community. Join us for a discussion with Nashville Public Library’s Donelson Branch staff—Ryan Darrow, Library Branch Manager, and Bailey Battilla, Adult Librarian—to learn about the importance of sharing common household items to reduce the need to buy new.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required to view live.
Hosted by Zero Waste Nashville and Urban Green Lab, “Sustainable in the City” features interviews, webinars, and panel discussions with Nashville’s top experts in all areas of waste and sustainability.
