Turner Construction Company (Turner) is a great partner and gracious sponsor of Urban Green Lab. During the 2019-2020 School Year, Turner participated in the pilot year of our Sustainable Pathways Program which paired McGavock High School Students with corporate green teams.
Each month, a team of seniors came to Turner’s Nashville office to participate in their green team meeting. On a chilly afternoon in February, the seniors had the unique opportunity to visit an actual construction site of a high-rise in Nashville!
After learning about the safety protocols of being on a construction site, the students put on their PPE (personal protection equipment) and began their tour!
The tour was led by Katie Poss, Engineer & Regional Sustainability Manager, with David Dasal, Project Superintendent. The students asked a variety of questions throughout the private tour about the building process and sustainability. They were able to see first-hand the steps Turner is taking to lead sustainable construction practices in the field.
Check out a few pictures of the tour below!
Thank you again to Turner Construction Company for hosting Urban Green Lab and the Sustainable Pathways Program students!
