Environmental Justice in Nashville
May 10, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CDT
FreeIn Nashville and around the country, environmental degradation, pollution, and disasters hit communities of color and low-income communities first, worst, and longest. Environmental justice (EJ) is a concept that can empower all Nashvillians toward having a city that works for all of our needs and empowers Nashville’s most marginalized communities. Environmental justice shows us that if we care for our most affected community members, we all can enjoy the benefits of shared dignity in our environment. Join us for an important discussion with Dr. David Padgett, Associate Professor of Geography and Director of Geographic and Information Sciences Laboratory at Tennessee State University on environmental justice in Nashville. We will cover both the history and the current work being done with the Nashville Environmental Justice Initiative and beyond to ensure all community members have access to clean, healthy, safe spaces to live, work, and play.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required to view live.
