TREASURE NOT TRASH
TREASURE NOT TRASH
A Compost Educational Video Series
From that first bite, your food has been on an incredible journey. But all too often, our food’s journey is cut short. In Nashville, 95% of our food waste ends up in a landfill instead of continuing on its next path. When we choose to trash rather than treasure our food, the natural cycle of replenishing nutrients is stopped in its tracks. But it doesn’t have to end there.
Composting is a powerful solution to reduce food waste and reclaim the valuable materials we’re tossing. Composting means a true return on resources–one that appreciates all the natural materials and hard work that went into growing and producing that food in the first place.
Nashville has a strong community of composting advocates. Together with cohort partners Compost Nashville and Compost Company, and sustaining advisors Nashville Department of Waste Services, Urban Green Lab, is working to educate residents on how food waste can be better managed.
This educational video series is meant to explore what compost is, why it is more important than ever to compost your food waste, and where you can compost. Share these in a classroom, a business, or any kitchen.
Don’t wait–food is too good to waste–get composting!
