Sustainable Classrooms Manager

Originally from Mexico City, Sofia moved to Nashville, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University. Sofia’s sustainability journey began while on a school trip to Boston, Massachusetts, where she learned about human trafficking and its correlation to inequitable trade relations. This propelled her into the realm of fair trade advocacy, recognizing its potential to combat forced labor and promote equitable practices globally.

Drawing from her diverse experiences, Sofia spearheaded the design, implementation, and oversight of a pioneering program tailored for Latino entrepreneurs in Nashville. Additionally, she serves as a dedicated member of a scholarship selection committee for a local college access program, a volunteer for UGL’s Households division, and a team member at her local refill store, embodying her dedication to her community and fostering eco-conscious practices.

In her free time, Sofia finds inspiration through art and the outdoors. She enjoys flower pressing, sewing, kayaking along the waters of the Duck River, and going on hikes with her husband and her two dogs.
