The First Lab Recogntion Graduating Cohort!

Urban Green Lab kicked off 2020 by launching Lab Recognition, our program for schools, businesses, and nonprofits that are at different stops along their journey to become more sustainable. We use an annual assessment to diagnose their needs, organize and energize green teams, create strategic plans, connect organizations with fellow workplaces and experts, and help better tell their stories.

Little did we know that a few short weeks from launch, all of our daily lives would shift dramatically with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this was a difficult time for us all, our first cohort of community institutions has completed their first year of sustainable education!

Our first graduating cohort:

Through these organizations, almost 5,000 adults received sustainable living education!

Feedback from our graduates

“The program was cool because it really uplifted the work that was done before us and through us. It’s definitely a confidence boost as the whole topic of sustainably can be overwhelming.”

“The best part of the program was the structure. Having an outline and tangible goals to work on was a good reminder that we’re accomplishing things.”

Interested in Lab Recognition?

Participating organizations are assessed annually. Once they fulfill the ten requirements outlined below, they are officially recognized as a “Lab of Learning.” Each subsequent year, organizations will continue to be recognized based on their “score” and the results of the assessment.
