(she/her/hers)

Director of Education

Christina Langone serves as the Director of Education with Urban Green Lab, overseeing the Classrooms, Households, and Workplaces divisions. She focuses on bringing a lens of sustainability to each division to realize our collective goals.

Originally from Saugus, Massachusetts, Christina is a proud first-generation college student who understands the importance of education and following your own path.  She has a BS in Environmental Science and Sociology from UMass Amherst and an MA in Climate & Society from Columbia University.

Previously, she worked as a Sustainability Specialist for the NYC Department of Education which serves 1.1 million students across 1,800 schools. In this role she worked with a portfolio of 300 schools on a wide range of sustainability efforts. She developed and managed two programs that expanded the office’s reach in the city. One focused on bringing artistic students into the world of sustainability through songwriting and videography. Another utilized a roadmap to introduce successful recycling into schools both from a pedagogical and facilities perspective. In past roles as a science writer, an outreach intern, and an exhibit guide she has always kept inclusive education at the core of her work.

Empathy, kindness, and justice inform all of her decisions and she acts with a deep respect for the lived experiences of everyone she is collaborating with or educating. She is thrilled to take her life’s journey and sustainability efforts to Nashvillea city that has already made her feel at home.

When not at work she enjoys listening to music, reading, drawing, writing, and quiet moments in nature.
