Kroger Compost Pilot

Urban Green Lab and Kroger’s Nashville headquarters are partnering together to pilot food waste composting service for Metro Nashville Public Schools in 2019. Building off a pilot by the World Wildlife Fund which is auditing wasted food in K-12 cafeterias, Urban Green Lab and Kroger are teaming up with Compost Nashville to investigate the barriers and opportunities around composting food waste in Metro schools and test the feasibility of a district-wide program.  Three Nashville schools are involved in the pilot, which includes training for teachers, cafeteria managers, and custodial staff.
