Messages for our Environmental Tomorrow: Artists as Sustainability Catalysts
April 15, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm CDT
Free
Artists are often at the forefront of social change, and are able to communicate deeper truths about pressing issues differently and perhaps more effectively than policy makers or traditional news media. The arts play an increasingly significant role in raising awareness of climate change and encouraging sustainable social, economic, and environmental practices. Art and sustainability are intertwined and can provide for us a compelling view of the future, which we are creating for the next generation through decisions made today.
Join Urban Green Lab as we hear from Southern Word student writers, followed by a discussion with Lauren Fitzgerald (Founder, Strategize 619) , Benjamin Smith (Executive Director, Southern Word), and Leah Sherry (Executive Director, Turnip Green Creative Reuse) plus Southern Word poets Nubia Yasin and Lemuel Robertson about the ways artists can deepen the conversation around sustainability.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration required to view live.
